Michael and crew, Thank you so much for all the valuable information I learned while taking your STCW'95 course. I really enjoyed the experience a lot and will be recommending your school to anyone I meet looking to get into the field. Hopefully you will see me next week or so to take either the RIB or SS course. The event this weekend at Rybovich was a lot of fun. Thank you for helping us start our "networking process." I just got back on land from what was supposed to be a 2 day trip, which turned into a 5 day trip and a permanent job.... I will email you the details of my most exciting experience and new job not to mention the other job offers I also had, which I have "pay it forward" to my friends and I hope one of them gets one of the 2 position. Thanks to all of YOU at IYT who helped me "BELIEVE"! and gave me the training to highlight the finer points of my knowledge in the yachting industry that "LANDED" me the awesome job! It is unfortunate that someone was fired for me to be hired, but it makes you realize you must always be on your best game as someone else is looking for your job. Most excitingly is probably within the month we’ll be on a larger boat. Although a crew is in place our owners will be taking the Captain and myself to the new boat. STCW '95 - Basic 1st Aid...Love this Course, instructors were very dynamic and kept us interested throughout the whole day.
MOY 200 ton Power Practical... I had a great week aboard. I wish this course was manditory for a ticket everywhere. We studied all day and the instructor stayed up late with us to ensure we understood everything.
Boat Handling....Great Experience for improving or building boat handling skills. Good instructor that was very helpul in teaching new skills and reinforcing old ones.
Silver Service...Really helpful class. Good introduction to Silver Service. Thank you Claire, you are most kind to lend your knowledge.
RIB/Powerboat...Doug is a great instructor; it's obvious he takes his work very serious. "As patient as Job"

MOY Sail Practical...John is excellent. He is probably the most knowledged person I have ever met in the world of boating. He is patient and a very good coach, helping the learner develop knowledge and applied skills.
Can we have cake on Monday? even if it means Amanda has to come in... what more can I say, it's very important that the cake is supplied on a daily basis. It could mean the difference between passing and failing which ever course the students are on. Now really, IYT are there to help everyone from entry level to master 3000gt. The team makes you welcome from the moment you walk into the school. No matter what the question is they will find the answer. The instructors have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

As the saying goes, “which came first, the chicken or the egg?” You can apply that to boating as well. How do you get experience maneuvering a twin screw motor yacht if no one lets you? Because if you don’t have a license or previous experience to do so, it’s hard to find someone willing to let you take the helm of their precious boat. What a great opportunity that IYT offers with its Power Boat handling course. It definitely calmed my nerves before I had to take my practical portion of my Yacht master 200 ton offshore course. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who has any doubts in their ability to maneuver a twin screw motor yacht!
The Boat Handling instruction, for me was a great opportunity to improve my skills and learn techniques that I was not formerly familiar to. Doug was a great instructor and worked close to the crew as possible giving us reminders and staying patient throughout the lessons. I generally felt I was not the greatest of handler, but after the class I have much more confidence at the helm. I would recommend this class to anyone who needs to brush up their skills or simply to adjust to a new boat. Thank you.
The Boat Handling course in essence, put my mind at ease and gave me confidence to go on in the practical and not to be too worried. If you have never driven a twin-screw before, I highly recommend it. Doug, the instructor is very patient with the novice and teaches you a lot of necessary boat handling skills. Definitely worth the money and the time.
On 23 Jan 2010, I enrolled in the IYT Power boat handling one day course on the Sunday prior to my MOY Practical. Simply put, the class was essential in making me feel comfortable upon a twin screw vessel. Prior to the class, my handling experience had exclusively been with single screw powerboats and sailing vessels. Having an extra day of boat handling prior to my practical allowed me to focus on the practical of the MOY exam rather than also having to familiarize myself with a new vessel.
This note is to thank you, for the wonderful time and experience I just had while doing my Power boat Handling Instruction. I believe this short instruction is a great asset for any deck crew member in the Yachting industry, whether is a qualified Yachtmaster, somebody doing the transition from sail to power, an experience Deckhand, or even an experienced First Mate looking for close quarters maneuvering time. Mmore practical docking on different vessels, as for some of us in hard to get the time on the boat we are currently working, due shortage of crew or many other things that come in to play. This is also a great preparation for Yachtmaster exam, will give you the confidence and clear the questions that we have. The experience that we gain maneuvering the different boats on different weather conditions is invaluable, that is what makes us better. I am working towards my Chief Mate ticket and feel a descent boat handler. I have logged about 100,000 NM at sea, sail and power. We had the right conditions the wind and the tide play an important role that day, which kept it interesting. Will definitely to it again, a day on the boat having fun with the boys while you are practicing your boat handling skills!!! Sincerely yours Victor Arias
Passing my 500ton Master exam was a huge accomplishment and I couldn’t have done it without the help of everyone at I.Y.T. The course load is challenging and the instructors are very professional as well as hand on. Medic first aid, GMDSS, MCA oral exam… It is a real pleasure to study among professionals, learning with highly prepared teachers, up to date information and equipment. The staff is great, helpful, competent, trustworthy and extremely supportive. The right place where I’ll come back in a short time to continue my education. Thanks to everyone at IYT.
Myself and two other deckhands were in for a long yard period in Ft. Lauderdale. To keep our careers moving in a forward direction we thought making the best of our situation would be getting more qualifications. Our boat said that they could not give us time off to do classes. I called IYT and told them our situation and within days they had set up a program for our group, dates and prepped us for taking the course. The teacher was extremely informative and I’m happy to say we all passed. I’m very grateful to IYT for being flexible with our scheduling limitations as well as impressed with the ability to deliver the education and qualifications we needed to further our careers.
Thank you to all of IYT staff members for the consistent outstanding work done over my years of maritime training with your institution. Great instructors, well organized management, friendliness and empathy of staff kept me coming back year after year and steered me towards success. IYT is my first recommendation to my crew members when their time for maritime training certification. Having completed all of my Masters certification, I can only say one thing, well done IYT, mission accomplished!

They successfully took me, with very little exposure to deck operations, and prepare me for a career on yachts. Thanks again!!
MOY… I enjoyed my month with you & your staff. Doug & George were excellent instructors & your staff was all around friendly & very helpful. I especially wanted to thank you for all the time you spent getting me up to speed on the different programs & requirements-time which was not wasted. I feel now I got an extra education above & beyond the classes by understanding the bigger picture of training and licensing. Also appreciate the extra effort you made to accommodate us…that really made a difference for me!... I had a great time & experience before, during & after the programs & look forward to continuing my maritime education with IYT.

SCTW '95.. Took this class five years ago from another school. This class was 1000 times better. Professional instructor with tons of experience to back it up.

GMDSS…Ten non-stop days of class is difficult, but there is not a weekend to forget anything because class keeps on going. Come rested and be ready to study. For me, it fit my busy schedule and allowed me to get the USCG on a Thursday morning for license renewal.
MOY 200 ton... Good/Challenging course, excellent instructors with superb knowledge & communication skills.
MOY…Looking at the amount of information the MOY course covered was initially overwhelming, however Lou did a fantastic job laying the foundation and guiding us through the dense material. His ability to focus and entertain the class made learning every theory, rule and definition a joy. I left the course, not only more confident in all the topics covered, but in my ability to remember it all because I truly understood it.
