Officer of the Watch (OOW) Advanced Sea Survival

Duration: 3 days

Pre-requisites: 6 months yacht service

Approval: MCA

Assessment: Written exam, practice in-course assessment and practical on RIB

The course is held over three days and comprises both theory and practical components. Assessment is continuous over the course which includes classroom theory, pool and open water practical sessions designed to test understanding of the techniques learnt during the course. To complete the course there is also an oral/written examination to test the underpinning knowledge.

First Aid for Survivors
Lifejackets and Immersion Suits
Actions in Survival Craft
Distress Signals and Communications
Rescue Boats
